Simple Sums?

I'm trying to do some research. Maybe some of you readers would like to contribute.

What I would like to know is if the British Government had not sent our troops to Iraq, and had used the money to build electricity generators providing power via renewable sources - hydroelectric, wind turbine generators, and the like, would we have been able to meet or better our CO2 emmission targets?

In the meantime let us in the UK think about who we might like to vote for in our forthcoming general election.

Kerry to Concede Defeat

Our European correspondent has sent in news that the French newspaper 'libération' is writing that Kerry will shortly condede defeat to George W. Bush:

--

John K.Kerry is ready to concede defeat

The democratic candidate should, according to two close advisers, shortly concede victory to Bush. A statement was forecasted for mid-afternoon US time (late afternoon, Paris time). The incumbent president would win 274 electoral college votes with the 20 of Ohio.

Preliminary Voting Analysis

It has been traditional in two New Hampshire hamlets to close the polling stations and announce the votes as soon as everyone has voted.

The two hamlets are Hart's Location and Dixville Notch.

2000
Hart's Location - Bush 17, Gore 13, Peters(?) 1
Dixville Notch - Bush 21, Gore 5, Nader 1

2004
Hart's Location - Bush 16, Kerry 14, Nader 1
Dixville Notch - Bush 19, Kerry 7, Nader 0

That is a 3.22% swing to Kerry in Hart's Location, and a 8.4% swing to Kerry in Dixville Notch.

Well, apply that nationwide, and I think you'll find we have a winner.

So there we go, Nofear.org's completely unscientific exit poll of two the the tiniest districts predicts a Kerry win!

Well your correspondent has been busy on the message boards these last few weeks (under a pseudonym) sparing with the republican voters to try and dispel some of the many myths that they have been putting across about the Kerry Campaign.

Anyway, Newsnight has just had a GOP pollster on, pretty much saying that the vote has moved significantly towards the Kerry campaign on the day of the election, most notably "security mom's" who have gone back to their traditional democrat leanings, after supporting bush in 2000, and first time voters, who have come out in far greater numbers than expected.

Is it still down to the wire?

Hopefully in a few hours, the picture below will be replaced by a new face!
