Israel and Palestine

Pavel had a recent post in which he found a bit of a rant from coldfury about the whole Israel Palestine deal.

He writes about how fed up he is with everything, but seems to blame only the palestinians, and expect only them to make a move..

... What I want to see is someone with the guts and integrity to simply stand up and say: Enough. Enough phony show arrests and back-door releases of those arrested. Enough excusing savage murder while simultaneously denouncing too-restrained Israeli efforts to stanch the bleeding. Enough pretending that the Palestinians are simply Americans with beards and funny headgear, desiring only to live free and peacefully in a homeland of their own next to their Jewish cousins. Enough pretending that Western muttonheads like Rachel Corrie are compassionate, loving people who would never knowingly or unknowingly function as lackwit dupes and enablers for genocidal maniacs. Enough refusal to notice the abusive act of allowing young children to brandish AK47s in bloodthirsty anti-Israel parades from some of the same people who actually try to get toy guns and GI Joes banned here. Enough turning a blind eye to the fact that Arafat is still firmly and completely running the Palestinian show, and to the fact that he has no desire whatever to see Israel survive as a Jewish state for even one minute longer than he can prevent it. Enough equivocation about the moral standing of a democratic state fighting for its very survival amid a swirling maelstrom of religious fanaticism, racism, anti-Semitism, and hatred for all the values the Western world claims to cherish. Enough lying; enough moral equivalence; enough duplicitous bad-faith negotiation that functions both as a cloak for terrorists and their evil intentions, and a veneer-thin moral curtain for us to screen our own culpability and fecklessness behind. Enough hoping that appeasement will defuse tyrannical, murderous ambition. Enough calling a turd a Tootsie Roll. Enough death. Enough bullshit.

Such a balanced view.

Extremism is not just on the palestinian side, it is on the jewish side as well, both sides are at fault. Do not try to pretend otherwise.

Spot the Arse Competition

Today brings news that Geoffrey Robinson has finally decided to change his drink-driving plea to guilty, having previous lied and declared that he was not guilty.

Naturally, being a former Treasury Minister he is a man of integrity and can admit his fault without having to blame others.

Ha. Nuh-uh. He blames the police, they intimidated him apparently, because they found cocaine in the police van when they arrived at the police station. Naturally this made him so stressed he felt he was unable to blow correctly in the breathalyser until he obtained legal counsel.

Referring to the discovery of the substance, Mr Haslam added: "That had a profound effect on Mr Robinson's state of mind.

"To put it bluntly, he was made the subject of allegations that he was in some way connected with this drug."

The drug allegations posed a challenge to the integrity of the MP and could have had potentially catastrophic consequences for someone in his position, Mr Haslam added.

Mr Robinson, fearing that he had been set up in some way, was very anxious to obtain legal advice before taking a breath test.

Someone in his position? That slimely, untrustworthy toadie of an indivudal? Do explain old chap.

Anyway, to round this article off, here is a spot the difference competition.
