Well what an exciting day it has been! After numerous arrangements, cancellations, and alterations; I eventually ended up in a poetry reading session of all things. This was quite an experience for me, as I prefer to take my ‘culture’ in moderation. As it turned out it was quite a pleasant evening’s entertainment.
There were all sorts of characters there, and it was nice to see a range of people, we saw serious poetical types all the way through to people just having a go. Unfortunately one of the readers hogged the stage and read about six poems, this displaced a couple of potential performers and restricted others to a single recital. During some of the less interesting verses my mind wandered and I concocted a ‘fake’ poem of my own.
Tribute to Betjeman – by Hamgray
Boring metre – boring rhyme,
Pen on paper another time.
A candle drips upon the floor,
Another bill pushed through the door.
That's all I could be bothered to do!
