Having said that, i will not go out tonight if the Pope dies today.
So we'll see...

It's got to be the worst job in the world. If he gets better he has
to go back to doing all those f-ing services again, the only chance
he has of a holiday is if he pops his clogs...

Johnny-2-Beers: I'm surprised you'd not go out if he dies. Do you
go to church regularly and make your confessions? Why don't you
not read the news and go out, you'll find out if he died later anyway!
It'll be impossible to miss! :-)

What if he dies whilst you're out?

Right, if I remember well, I sent this email to Uncle Ongar and Norbert,
since they are the ones considering going out tonight, yet I get a
reply from Gaz-Ma-Taz and The Founder too...

so...

to Uncle Ongar:

no, a remembrance drink is not appropriate if the pope dies.

to Gaz-Ma-Taz:
the Pope does have holidays. He's got a massive mansion in the
mountains with swimming pool, etc... And I certainly doubt that he
thinks it's the worst job in the world or that he considers giving
"fucking services" as you wrongly call them (Catholics go to Mass,
not to Services) a chore...

I did go to Church during Lent but missed Easter Sunday for which I
felt quite bad. I don't do confession anymore, no one does.
The issue is not to be at home if he dies and "I don't want to miss
the news, etc...", it's a matter of respect. But I guess asking a
f*cking proddy to respect my Church is too much! :)

to The Founder:

if he dies while we're at the Avery, I won't know about it...

i think the heart attack was simply an april's fool thing... he's
actually having a party with some choir boys and jonathan king!

From: Gaz-Ma-Taz

Let's get this straight... Catholics don't do confessions anymore!?!?

Jeeze, they probably had to abolish confessions as the IRA were
taking up too much of the priests time!

Also Mass is just another service, regardless of the word, there's
still prayers, a bit of singing, a communion probably... Unless
they've given up those things too!!

I think you'll find that the Pope will hang on until Sunday morning,
just before Mass. Then the thought of having to get up will finish
him off. If you think this is irreverent at least consider that there is
a God he'll be likely to get in through heaven's gates quicker than
most! (Henkel & King will be waiting a long time)

-

As for the drinks thing, Uncle Ongar and I will reccie the pubs
between the Rat and Parrot and The Prince Regent, whichever is
the quietest we'll pop in to. (They're all near the Avery) We'll be
meeting up just about before 9.30pm.

Johnny-2-Beers: You'll be telling me that Catholics use prophylactics
next!!! :-)

ahmm.. anyway

so Johnny-2-Beers we'll catch you laters... me and Gaz-Ma-Taz
will have a quiet drink first near the Avery and then i'll join you later

Founder.. why can't you come out tonight?

From: Johnny-2-Beers
Date: 1 April 2005 15:05:11 BST

So you're coming out tonight then? But I guess you don't like the
Avery? Let me know where you guys are, I doubt any pub will
be quiet on a Friday evening...

Again, I must answer your anti-Catholic rant with a few points:
yes, confession is still happening but very few Catholics bother with
it (the same way that Church attendance is going down). After mass,
most people, including me, can't be bothered hanging around and
waiting in line to confess their sins.

2nd point: priests (and the Pope is a priest) celebrate Mass EVERY
DAY. And the Pope probably does matines (can't remember the name in
English), and evening masses. So he doesn't have to wait till Sunday
to go to work...

And yes, if the pope doesn't go to Heavens, there's a serious problem
with the Catholic Church...

And to Uncle Ongar, I don't find it funny...

Johnny-2-Beers

From: Gaz-Ma-Taz

It wasn't an anti-Catholic rant... I wasn't saying that it wasn't a
valid religion, or that we should burn them all. I was just
pointing out a few weird things...

Also the thing about not coming out if the pope dies is a bit odd.
If the queen popped her clogs (she's still head of the Anglican
church I think), or the Archbishop, then I'd still carry on doing
my stuff. It's just a bit weird, like when Princess Diana got hers,
what was that all about eh? All we're told the whole time is what
an uncaring society it is we live in, then you get huge outbursts
of public mourning like that. It doesn't add up! That's all I'm saying...

From: Johnny-2-Beers
Date: 1 April 2005 15:15:42 BST

I wouldn't compare the Queen with the Pope. She's not appointed by
God (as the Pope "officially" is) and is simply born that way,
therefore there's no reason to give a shit about her.
But if you are a Catholic and you respect your Head of Church (and I
do like this Pope, I think he's great) then it's normal that you
should feel sad if he were to die. You wouldn't go out drinking with
your friends if your dad died, now would you?

"And to Uncle Ongar, I don't find it funny..."
don't find what funny?

anyway, enough ecumenical matters i think this site should
straighten matters up

Uncle Ongar, your mind is really fucked up. Where did you get the idea of
raping and murdering your dad?

And what I didn't find funny was your comment that the Pope is having
a party with choir boys when he's actually on the verge of dying...

From: Gaz-Ma-Taz
Date: 1 April 2005 15:22:15 BST

I might do if I needed an alibi!
As for your Pope vs The Queen argument... Well that's just toss!
The Queen could whip the Pope's ass any time! :-))))

And what's all this about the Pope being chosen by God? Just watch
Godfather III to find out what really happens.

From: Johnny-2-Beers
Date: 1 April 2005 15:27:02 BST

I did put "officially" in brackets. But it is the belief of the
Church that the Cardinals are guided by the Hand of God when chosing
a new Pope... Remember that the Pope is officially from the line of
St.Peter. Jesus chose Peter and therefore it is assumed that every
Pope since then was also chosen through "divine intervention". Of
course, you may or may not believe that... And I guess you don't...

Johnny-2-Beers

From: Johnny-2-Beers

Yes, I know that one. Unfortunately for this lying son of a bitch, it
is not true at all that the Pope is called the Vicar of the Son of
God. It's all made up by Ian Paisley to come up with the number 666.

From: The Founder

Because I'm having dinner elsewhere. (unless the pope dies)

From: Gaz-Ma-Taz

True, I don't believe it, but that is fine, this is where "faith"
comes in.

However, you were the one moaning about the Mormons' way of
choosing things based on a "sign from God" too, remember?

Anyway, enough teasing about the Pope, religion, and pederasts...
I'll be praying that the Pope doesn't die, then you'll be able to come
out for a drink!!! :-)

Thembi and I visited the Vatican last year and saw the Pope give Mass.
Very sad weekend.
