Rather than give any air time to Mel Gibson's film - The Passion of Christ, I humbly submit this image from the archives, also entitled "The Passion of Christ".

Update 02 April 2004 - We always appreciate comments on this site, but geez folks, this article isn't even about the film "The Passion of the Christ". If you want to read our posting about the film, check this article.

[ ugh and don't even get me started on all the folks who telephoned in to jeremy vines radio 2 show the other day complaining it was anti-semitic before they had even seen the film.. probably didn't even know what that meant. suprised they had the intelligence to use a telephone ]

I watched the film THE PASSION OF CHRIST at the cinema and my overview of the film is that no matter who and what you are you will come out feeling the same as everyone else. Only people who have seen the movie will understand that what ever problems you have, however severe it is it is no comparison to what christ went through himself.

I have not even seen the film yet but after reading many reviews I am compelled to go and see it.

Leaving the subject of the film aside for one moment, is it not a good thing that this film has stirred a whole lot of reaction and comment from so many people. Film can be a very powerful mediator and it is heartening to see that this film had provoked strong concerns, heated discussion and something that most films these days never touch - thought.......this film had made the viewer really think. Like alot of people, although I think I may find this a hard film to watch, some of images from the film are deeply distressing, I am compelled to watch it.

I agree with you - thought was what that movie inspired! I, too, encountered people where I work who hated it and criticized it stating that it didn't follow scripture (which it did), and the beating was over done, and they got nothing out of it. But, then again, they are not religious people and have no idea what they are talking about! I live in Santa Monica, CA, and the movie has been out for us for a long time. It just recently fell to #3 but was #1 for 3 straight weeks. That is something. After you see the movie, you come out of the theater dumbfounded. It was just so powerful. It truly made me, once again, realize why I believe in him so deeply and why it's so important to live your life decently in such a crazy world.

I went to see the film last night,I felt no hate or outrage as I was led to believe I would !!!it was painful, upsetting , and watching Mary seeing her beloved son go through the pain was heartbreaking. Mel used few words and I felt the ones he did gave the basic message Jesus left us -to love one another, come on world wake up see the light. It has been years if ever that I have been witness to such stunned silence at the end of a film. Well done Mel.
