Whipple Museum Visit 2

whipple.jpgA good friend and I took some time off from working at the nofear headquarters to travel to Cambridge and revisit the wonderful Whipple Museum. Housing a large collection of scientific instruments and associated literature the museum is typically open from 1.30pm through the afternoon, but only on weekdays!

Our regular readers will know that we are deeply interested in any references to our genetic cousins, and I was amazed to see that tucked away in one of the draws for holding an array of calculators there was yet another reference.Click here to see what I saw in the draw.

The best thing about this was the accompanying text, explaining that the “educated monkey” is patient regardless of whether a child was bright or stupid! As well as this, slightly cut off due to my bad framing, the instructions allude to the fact that this device was created in the General Motors Building in Detroit. Maybe the GM designers use the educated monkey as a calculator for designing their cars?
